City of Stars | Branding & Identity
A branding & identity practice for my high school senior prom. The culmination of 4 years serving on student government as an elected class officer. Most successful senior prom campaign in my 4 years of high school, raising enough money for our class to end the year with a significant profit (then donated to the school in the form of a class gift)
Role – Designer, Marketer (team of 8)
Date – 08/2017 - 06/2018
Biggest Challenge – continuously pushing for and finding platforms to inject design in order to truly establish an identity for the campaign.
Biggest Takeaway – finding balance between consistency and innovation in branding
City Of Stars Theme Design
As an elected member of student council all 4 years of high school, my work culminated in the most important project of all: planning and organizing our senior prom. We chose the theme City of Stars and I set out to design all materials necessary to make the night special.
To give students a centralized place for updates and information, I created and launched a website.
-Used a primarily dark background with light text in order to allude to the stars theme
-Embedded parallax scrolling
-Used links on the landing page to lead to detailed information
The night wouldn’t be complete without food, so it was important to design a themed menu as well
Created themed Facebook profile pictures that were posted by council members to promote the event.
Along with the promo pictures, we created a Facebook page for the event and for a prom-posal contest, where we posted and awarded the best prom asking a pair of free tickets.
The day of the event, students were also able to access a Snapchat filter at the venue. This added a layer of spirit to the already festive evening and helped us gain attention even outside our high school.
